Red Rock Scenic drive at Charleston, Las Vegas, NV (map)
Updated information about today's event, PLEASE READ THIS LINK. This is now an official Meetup. We will meet in Red Rock promptly at 2:30. For those who would like to car pool into Red Rock, I will set the Carpool Location as the Vista Commons Shopping Plaza on Charleston and Desert Foothills Drive Map. Be there in time to meet so you will be on Location in Red Rock at 2:30. Remember that DST has ended, so it will be close to dark around 5PM. We will meet at the Sandstone Quarry, which is the 3rd turnoff after entering the loop. Outdoor portraits are fun, especially when you have a portrait of you yourself taking photos. Or just a great outdoor portrait photo. Be prepared for fun. All in attendance will be required to personally submit photos that have been taken to the person who you took the photo of. I will have guidelines for this before we start the fun. Any questions please post on the board, or email/call me at: [masked] , [masked].
It's a nice idea, and for anyone who is interested, I have a small studio in Las Vegas that we can use for this event, or in case of inclement weather. After Nov 20th will work for me. The studio is also available for rental to the group members.
I need some great shots of me taking photos in landscapes, in exchange, I take awesome portraits with unique lighting effects. Also capable of teaching studio lighting.
Bill: LOVE the idea of "action" shots in desert landscape instead of studio shots (no offense Lucy) so maybe we can get a group of photogs to go to someplace like Red Rock (or another location close by) and take pictures of each other taking landscapes. Can do some natural light headshots at same location. Thoughts?
Thanks, nothing better that to get a great shot of photographer in action. I see this on a lot of photographers websites. Studio shoots are great to do as well, because it is a great way to learn a very important part of photography, and one that also pays well. Red Rock is a great location, and the weather is great right now especially with the times of the sunrise and sunset times in November. Natural light and reflectors can be a great experience for those who do not know.
Fantastic idea, and it sounds like a lot of fun! I work freelance so I never know what my schedule will be from week to week, but I would love to attend. Has anyone come up with a time yet?
I will set this up as a meet up, but before I do, please take this survey so I can select the best possible date and time: Survey closes on Wednesday at 9AM http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BW7RYK6![]()
Bill I see you are looking at Nov 4-6th.. Please remember we have a shoot at the train tracks next weekend. Have a good turn out. I know of a few other member like myself that can not get away for 2 events in 1 weekend. Can we maybe push this back a week or so allowing all to attend both events.
Not a problem, I have added the next weekend. I might be away for food shots in CA, but if not I will still attend. The poll will determine based on who wants to participate in one or the other event.
The weather is going to be a factor in this shoot, traditionally the red rock area gets the most rain if you all go, be very carefull and have a good time
Thanks Herb, I am keeping a close eye on this. If the weather will not cooperate with the shoot, I will change the date. I will revise if necessary Sunday morning. Thanks for standing by.

That is a great idea. I really need a good headshot for promos but can't get one of myself.
