Just got off phone w/Fremont St. Experience (FSE) marketing director, Megan, re confusing online info re this weekend's Menorah Ceremony. Here's the scoop:

There are TWO ceremonies. The Menorah used in this annual ceremony belongs to a local orthodox rabbi who may/may not be able to attend the first event (Friday, 12/11 @ 4:00, sundown) due to The Sabbath. Megan believes that Mayor Goodman will be at both events (i.e., Friday and Sunday--12/13 @ 4p). To end any confusion, here are the event details:

WHAT:

• * MENORAH CEREMONY 1 (Friday, 12/11 @ 4p): likely to include Mayor; is the FSE's media event and start of Hanukkah...good photo ops likely; may/may not include rabbi who owns the menorah
  
• * MENORAH CEREMONY 2 (Sunday, 12/13 @ 4p): likely to include Mayor and other politicians; seems to be more the "public event"; the rabbi will definitely attend this one.
  

WHEN: Since events start at 4p (sundown), I'd suggest you get there by 3p.
