Hello Everyone
Jan sent me an email suggesting that we do a meetup on March 14 for wildflowers in Death Valley and team up(???) it to the Night shoot at Rhyolite the previous night. I think that it is a good idea and I like to hear what everyone who RSVP'ed for the March 7th meetup has to think. Should I move the meetup back one week and set the location as Death Valley or keep it on the 7th and within Clark County? Edited by Randy Hammer on Feb 7, 2010 8:40 PM |

It might help everyone to post a map to let people know how to traverse the mountains between Death Valley and Rhyolite. Having them as one meetup doesn't sound very practical to me but that is only one person's opinion. Maybe just move the night shoot to Death Valley as well and leave Rhyolite for a different meetup.

The meetups would be on different days Saturday night and Sunday and the route is easy(Follow Hwy 95 North to Beatty then turn left at the only stoplight in town and go three miles or so to the Rhyolite exit. To get to Death Valley follow the same road that you have taken to the Rhyolite exit all the way into Death valley)
But before I make any change I want to get input from everyone to see what they were interested in whether staying within Clark County or going to Death Valley. Because it is a big change from what I originally planned. |

I am going to leave the meetup on the 7th and I will moniter DesertUSA website for reports of wild flowers and will decide around March first.

I believe the peak bloom is around mid-march/early april. But then that's always subject to change. I've got my eye on Desert USA as well.
I will be camping in DV the weekend of April 2nd with a camping meetup I'm in, but I'm prepared to go out to DV more than once for photoshoots this spring! |

This weekend will be the possibility of rain (Let's hope it is a good storm) But it is shaping up to be a moderate good year for wildflowers and that season will last until june for the higher elevations like Mt Charleston. I heard that Azna-Borrego State Park in California is already having a very good bloom and is at it's peak for the next two weeks.

Hello Everyone
Because of the lack of Wildflowers at every location that I went to today, I have changed the date for this meetup to March 28. Randy |
